REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY OF THE RX TIMER CAP(USA)

Did you ever forget to take your medication? I know that I have forgotten a couple of times. Remembering to take medications is one of the main reasons for noncompliance. The RX Timer Cap has a built in LCD timer that resets itself after the cap is opened and when the cap is closed,it resets to zero and then starts counting up in minutes and hours since you last took your medication. This is a fantastic invention and comes in different sizes and styles to fit all types of vials.

I gave a cap to my mother in law and she found it very easy to use, convenient and she was more compliant in taking her medications. The cap was easy to open and she had no difficulty reading the numbers on the cap.  The LCD display counts up to 100 hours before going to "sleep" to conserve energy and last up to 2 years. This is the perfect gift for everyone in your family who takes medication.

Statistics:

  • The World Health Organization found that less than 50% of patients take their medications as directed.
  • Failure to take meds as directed costs 125,000 lives each year and close to $300 billion in increased healthcare costs.
  • Studies proved that using the RX Timer Cap lifted adherence by as much as 34%.
The caps can be purchased from the Rx Timer Cap website. An individual cap can be purchased for $9.95, a 2-pack for $14.95, a 4-pack for $19.95, a 10-pack for $39.95, and a 20-pack for $69.95. You can buy them at different retail locations as well.

So would you like a cap of your own? enter my contest.

Thanks to the company I am able to giveaway a Rx Timer Cap to one of my lucky readers.

REVIEW OF UNDER THE EYE OF GOD BY JEROME CHARYN

I would like to welcome Jerome Charyn to Books R us. Jerome is the author of numerous novels and is presently touring with his newest novel Under the Eye of God: An Isaac Sidel Novel. Thanks for stopping by

After decades of madness in the Bronx, Isaac Sidel visits the craziest state in the country.

Isaac Sidel is too popular to be America’s vice president. Once the New York Police Department commissioner, he became the most beloved mayor in the city’s history—famous for his refusal to surrender his Glock, and for his habit of disappearing for months at a time to fight crime at street level. So when baseball czar J. Michael Storm asks Sidel to join him on the election’s Democratic ticket, the two wild men romp to an unprecedented landslide. But as the president-elect’s mandate goes off the rails—threatened by corruption, sex, and God knows what else—he tires of being overshadowed by Sidel, and dispatches him to a place from which tough politicians seldom return: Texas.

In the Lone Star state, Sidel confronts rogue astrologers, accusations of pedophilia, and a dimwitted assassin who doesn’t know when to take an easy shot. If this Bronx bomber doesn’t watch his step, he risks making vice-presidential history by getting killed on the job.

Jerome Charyn's Bio:

Jerome Charyn (b. 1937) is the critically acclaimed author of nearly fifty books. Born in the Bronx, he attended Columbia College, where he fell in love with the works of William Faulkner and James Joyce. After graduating, he took a job as a playground director and wrote in his spare time, producing his first novel, a Lower East Side fairytale called Once Upon a Droshky, in 1964.

In 1974 Charyn published Blue Eyes, his first Isaac Sidel mystery. Begun as a distraction while trying to finish a different book, this first in a series of Sidel novels introduced the eccentric, near-mythic detective and his bizarre cast of sidekicks. Charyn followed the character through Citizen Sidel (1999), which ends with his antihero making a run at the White House. Charyn, who divides his time between New York and Paris, is also accomplished at table tennis, and once ranked amongst France’s top Amazon10 percent of ping-pong players.

My Thoughts:

Maybe if I had read the first book in the series Blue Eyes, I may have been able to follow the storyline easier. There were times that I was confused and there were so many characters that I had some difficulty keeping up with them but I was able to follow the plot. The characters were very entertaining and unique. There were twists and turns that kept me engaged and the plot was appropriate for the Presidential elections. The authors writing was different, unique and a style all of his own. If you like thrillers with a little bit of humor then you will enjoy the book.

REVIEW OF THE WALNUT TREE BY CHARLES TODD

Title: The Walnut Tree
Authors:
Charles Todd
Publisher:
William Morrow

Date Published:
October 30, 2012
Purchase Book:
Amazon, Barnes & Noble

About the Book:

"I was in Paris the day the French Army was mobilized."

In 1914, while visiting her friend Madeleine, Lady Elspeth Douglas's life is thrown into chaos when war breaks out and the Germans quickly overrun Belgium, threatening France. Having just agreed to marry Alain, Madeleine's dashing brother, Lady Elspeth watches him leave to join his unit, and then she sets out for England, only to find herself trapped on the French coast.
Caught amid a sea of stranded travelers, terrified refugees, and wounded men overflowing the port of Calais, the restless Elspeth—daughter of a Highland aristocrat whose distinguished family can trace its roots back to the court of Mary, Queen of Scots—decides to make herself useful, carrying water to weary soldiers near the Front. It is an act of charity that almost gets her killed when enemy shells begin to explode around her.
To her rescue comes Captain Peter Gilchrist, who pulls her away from the battle and leads her to safety. But before they can properly say good-bye, Elspeth and Peter are separated.
Back in London, surrounded by familiar comforts, Elspeth is haunted by the horrors she witnessed in France. She also cannot forget the gallant Peter Gilchrist, even though she has promised herself to Alain.
Transformed by her experience, Elspeth goes to London and enrolls in a nursing course, where she meets a fellow nurse in training, Bess Crawford. It is a daring move, made without the consent of Elspeth's guardian, her cousin Kenneth, a high-handed man with rigid notions of class and femininity.
Yet Elspeth Douglas is a woman with a mind of her own, which—as she herself says—is a blessing and a curse. She is determined to return to the battlefields of France to do her part . . . and to find the man she has no right to love, no matter how far Cousin Kenneth may go to stop her. But before she can set things right with Alain, he goes missing and then Peter is gravely wounded. In a world full of terror and uncertainty, can the sweetness of love survive or will Elspeth's troubled heart become another casualty of this terrible war?
A poignant, compelling tale brimming with adventure, danger, and love, The Walnut Tree is an enchanting holiday gift and a wonderful companion to Charles Todd's acclaimed Bess Crawford series.

My thoughts:

A wonderful historical holiday tale that includes romance and a little bit of mystery. Elspeth Douglas decides visit her friend in Paris and she starts a relationship with her friend's brother.  When he is shipped off to war, she returns to England and falls in love with Peter.  Although she has a high social status she decides to become a nurse and return to France to assist the soldiers. I really enjoyed the book. It was full of memorable characters, scenes and a plot that was interesting. This is the first book that I had read by the authors and will not be my last. I highly recommend the book.

REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY OF PUREX PLUS OXI DETERGENT

I have always been a fan of Purex products and have depended on them to get my clothes clean and fresh. Thanks to the Purex Insiders, I got the opportunity to try the Purex plus Oxi laundry detergent. Let me tell yo a little about the product.

The laundry detergent works on over 101 stains due to the added Zout stain remover. It can be used as a pretreater and works in all machines. It has a fresh sent and is available in Fresh Morning Burst.

My Thoughts-

My family recently was affected by Hurricane Sandy and my in-laws house was flooded. They had over 4 feet of water inside including dirt and sand. We spend all day cleaning and many of our clothes were covered with mud. This was the perfect test for the detergent. I decided to take to clothes to a laundromat because of the amount of dirt on the clothes. I was tempted to throw them out but I wanted to give the liquid laundry detergent a try. I pre-treated all of the items and they came out great and smelled better than the musty smell from the salt water. I am impressed with the detergent and I will continue to use it in my household.

Thanks to Purex, I am am to giveaway2 coupons for a full size bottle of the bottle.
Contest ends on 11/22/12 @11:59pm EST. See Rafflecopter for rules.
