REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY OF DERMAGIST CLARIFYING SYSTEM FOR ACNE (USA ONLY)

Do you have Acne prone skin and have tried every type of cream or lotion out there with no results then give the Dermagist Clarifying System for Acne a try.

About the product:
It rapidly soothes and diminishes the look of Blemishes and Redness with Resveratrol, Glycolic Acid, Niacinamide, Aloe and Chamomile. It targets the look of redness and helps reduce blemishes by the use of Resveratrol. It is a antioxidant that provides age-defying properties and helps soothe your skin.

My Thoughts-

I have been dealing with acne for many years and have tried Proactive, Neutrogena and Clearasil with poor results. The Dermagist Clarifying system is fantastic and has reduced my redness and blemishes almost 90% in thirty days. I have been using it 2 x day faithfully and have tried to change my diet to assist with control of the acne. The products did not cause severe dryness, or increased redness and made my skin feel smooth and refreshed. Would you like to win your own Clarifying system then enter my contest.

REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY OF CURVEBALL BY JEN ESTES

Genre: Cozy Mystery
Published by: Camel Press
Publication Date: October 1st, 2012
Number of Pages: 312
Purchase Links: Amazon B&N
About the Book:
"It takes balls to survive spring training."
Baseball reporter Cat McDaniel specializes in exposés. Now that very talent has left her unemployed. Desperate to get off the bench and back into the lineup, she is thrilled to land an interview with the Buffalo Soldiers’ General Manager Roger “Rakin’” Aiken--Baseball legend, eight-time All Star ... and oblivious father to a Major League bratty co-ed named Paige. Aiken offers Cat the team writer position for the following spring, but the opportunity is tempered by a curveball of a caveat: she must first spend the winter as a blogger reporting on the Latin American training facility. She is also supposed to look out for Paige, nominally the team’s newest scouting assistant. Being a glorified babysitter and chaperone still beats being an out-of-work sportswriter. Cat reluctantly leaves behind her gorgeous boyfriend Benji and accompanies the party girl to sunny Santo Domingo to balance baselines and conga lines. Paige falls for Chance Hayward, an agent who plays hardball—the figurative kind. Joining them on the field is Paige's ex, Junior DeLeon, one of the coaches who’d really like to score with Cat. When an aspiring player turns up dead, it is up to Cat and Junior to devise a game-changing strategy. Will Cat’s snooping work in her favor this time, or will she strike out ... losing her job, her boyfriend and her life? Curveball follows Big Leagues as Book 2 of the Cat McDaniel Mysteries, also known as the Foul Ball series.
About the Author:

She is an active member of the Society of American Baseball Research (SABR), Springfield Poets & Writers and the National Writers Union (NWU). My Thoughts

What a great novel that includes mystery, a bit of romance and sports. All of the characters were realistic and believable. I really liked Cat who is a sports writer who travels all over to find a story and finds trouble along the way. I am not a baseball fanatic but the book taught me a little about the sport. There were twists and turns that kept me engaged and I finished the book rather quickly. Although this is the second book in the series, I had no problem following the storyline. The author was able to keep me guessing throughout much of the book and I was surprised by the ending. You do not need to be a baseball fan to enjoy the book. I look forward to reading the next book in the series Double Play due to be published in April 2013.

INTERVIEW OF JEN ESTES AUTHOR OF CURVEBALL

I want to welcom Jen Estes to Books R Us. Jen is the author of the cozy mystery Curveball and is touring the blogosphere with Partners in Crime Tours. Check out my review and giveaway of the book tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by.

 INTERVIEW:

Can you tell me who or what was the inspiration for the book?
Curveball was inspired by the real-life exploitation of aspiring ballplayers in Latin America.

Do you ever suffer from writer’s block?  If so, what do you do about it?
I think everyone hits a wall once in awhile, no matter what your profession is or how much you love it.  I first step away from the plate for a few days to give my brain time to rest.  If that doesn’t do the trick, then I pull a 180 and force myself to write something, even if it's only 500 words a day.  When that starts to come easy, I move it up to 1,000 and after that, 1,500 (which is my daily goal).
Can you tell me your experiences in finding a publisher for the book?
My agent paired me with Camel Press for my first book and I haven't looked back.  It's been a great match and I have a terrific editor.  I've since signed for four more books in the same series.

How long did it take you to write the book and how long did it take to get the book released?
It took me about three months to get to a very rough draft of Curveball.  After that, it spent another month with my editor and it was released approximately six months after the editing was complete.

Who is your favorite character in the book and why?
Paige Aiken, the spoiled coed to whom Cat is indentured, was a hoot to write.  It was disturbingly easy to put myself in the designer heels of this shallow, bitchy princess… but I'm trying not to reflect on that.

What are your current / future projects?
Right now I'm working on the third book in the Cat McDaniel Mystery series, where Cat will be returning to Buffalo as a beat reporter for the Soldiers.  Just as she thinks her lineup is perfect, life throws her an offspeed pitch: a screwball clad in a leather jacket and biker boots.  Her half brother/full leech shows up on her doorstep looking to shake up her world with his boozing and betting lifestyle.  It's scheduled for a release date of April 2013.

Do you have any tips for a young writer just starting out?
Write often.  Ted Williams swung his bat every day, Michael Jordan didn’t stop shooting for the flu, and Tiger Woods has had a club in his hand since he was three.  I can't say that 10,000 hours is the magic number to excellence, but there's no arguing that greatness comes with an exorbitant amount of practice.  Writers gotta write.

If your book was to be made into a movie, Who would you like the main character to be played by and why?
Oh, that would be a dream come true!  If I got to drop in my two cents for the lead, I'd go with the actress/writer/producer Felicia Day.  Not only does she look the part, she's a fantastic actress with an incredibly loyal fanbase.

What do you like to do for fun when you’re not writing?  Where do you like to vacation?  Can you tell us briefly about this?
Obviously, I love baseball and my husband and I follow lots of sports.  We like to visit cities with sports arenas and since we're beach bums living in the Midwest, we usually head for the coasts.  When I'm home, my days are monopolized by my three cats - Wrigley, Ivy and Captain Moo.

Can you tell me where we can purchase your book?
Curveball is available on BN.com and in Kindle and paperback on Amazon.com.  You can check out more at www.jenestes.com and connect with me on Twitter @jenestesdotcom.  I love to talk to readers!

GUEST POST BY PAUL BATISTA AUTHOR OF THE NOVEL EXTRAORDINARY RENDITION

I want to welcome Paul Batista to Books R Us. Paul is the author of the action thriller Extraordinary Rendition coming soon in May 2013. Thanks for stopping by.

 Guest Post:

WHEN WHERE AND HOW DO YOU WRITE?

I hear this question many times.  And the answer is: "wherever, whenever, and by any means possible."

Here is just one example.  I have been a long-distance runner for many years.  I often take a hand-held voice recorder with me and dictate into it as I run.  I do get puzzled looks from fellow runners, but over the last few years as more and more people use cell phones all the time, even while running, I get fewer and fewer quizzical glances as I speak into a recorder. I'm blessed to have an assistant who doesn't mind typing from dictation, and I find that after a six mile run my dictation translates into four or five written pages. Listening to my panting, almost breathless voice on the tape could make you think I’m doing something other than running. Since I run in places as diverse as central park, long island, and whatever city I happen to be in, the answer to “where do you write?" is "all over the place."

As to "when do you write?" the answer is any time during the day when I can. I still practice law because I enjoy it, but it's demanding work.  There are times during the day when I can start or finish a scene in a new novel but those interludes don't last for more than fifteen minutes before I have to take a call or leave for court.  And I can even write when in court, because a judge often takes a long time before appearing on the bench, and that enables me to write while waiting rather than staring out the window.  A great deal of my writing happens in the quiet hours of the night.  I'm one of those people who'd rather write about intrigue than watch "CSI."  It would be nice to have the kind of routine some writers have   with a set schedule of writing from 8 to noon, as if it were a job.  I admire that discipline; I will say that on a day when I don't write I get that empty feeling that the day was not as well-spent as it could have been.

About the Book:

When Ali Hussein, suspected terrorist and alleged banker for Al Qaeda, is finally transported from Guantanamo Bay to the US mainland to stand trial, many are stunned when Byron Carlos Johnson, a pre-eminent lawyer and son of a high-profile diplomat, volunteers to represent him. On principle, Johnson thought he was merely defending a man unjustly captured through rendition and water-boarded illegally. But Johnson soon learns that there is much more at stake than one man's civil rights. Hussein's intimate knowledge of key financial transactions could lead to the capture of or the unabated funding of the world's most dangerous terror cells. This makes Hussein the target of corrupt US intelligence forces on one side, and ruthless international terrorists on the other, and puts Byron Carlos Johnson squarely in the crosshairs of both. Written by no-holds-barred attorney Paul Batista, Extraordinary Rendition excels not only as an action thriller, but as a sophisticated legal procedural as well. Smart. Fast. Heart-pounding. A legal thriller of the highest order.
