REVIEW OF CHANGING THE CONVERSATION BY G. KLABEN

Changing the Conversation: Transformational Steps to Financial and Family Well-BeingIn Changing the Conversation: Transformational Steps to Financial and Family Well-Being, Gary Klaben mentions that America's future is still bright even after many political and fiscal system dysfunctions. American's need to figure out how to unlock the needs of today s individuals and families defines the challenge of achieving a better future. Changing the Conversation -- taking note of today s anxieties in the workplace, in communities and in homes -- argues that a new kind of conversation is urgently needed. People require a new and profound support system involving mutual trust, long-term relationships, interdependence, intimate knowledge and practical consolidation to reduce complexity and live simpler, happier lives. Changing the Conversation outlines the journey from dependency to mastery, from self-discovery to multigenerational financial and family realization. It is filled with insightful, even startling, conversations about what really matters and how to think, prioritize and act. But before you can start to decide the optimal structuring of assets, cash flow, taxes and estates for a family, you must first appreciate the emotional steps necessary to truly transform financial and family well-being. All of us must anticipate change, prepare to manage it, and seek to lead it whenever possible.

      My Thoughts-

When I started to read the book,  I though it was like any other financial book that told us what to do with our money. Changing the conversation was very different and used real-life examples and essays to explain what we need to do to help ourselves financially. It was well written and very easy to read. He describes the problems that we are facing daily and how we got into that situation. He stresses the family and how young children should taught how to manage money. I have learned in life that you should take care of yourself before worrying about money. Some of you may not agree with me but if you do not have spiritual and physical well being, what good is money anyway. This is a great book and a must read for everyone. Maybe it will help you solve some of your financial problems.

BLOG TOUR OF DARK IN THE CITY OF LIGHT BY P. ROBERTSON

      This week, the

      Christian Fiction Blog Alliance

      is introducing

Dark In The City Of Light
      Bethany House (July 1, 2010)

      by
      Paul Robertson

      ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Paul Robertson is a computer programming consultant, part-time high-school math and science teacher, and the author of The Heir. He is also a former Christian bookstore owner (for 15 years), who lives with his family in Blacksburg, Virginia.

      ABOUT THE BOOK

What Evil Haunts the Shadows of 1870s Paris?

Baron Ferdinand Harsanyi — After his wife's mysterious death, this Austrian attaché holds control over mines whose coveted ore could turn the tide of war.

Therese Harsanyi — Swept up in new romance and the spectacle of Paris, the Baron's daughter is blind to the dangers stalking her family and the city she loves.

Rudolph Harsanyi — Unsure whom to trust, the Baron's son's grief over his mother's death twists into growing anger and a desire to break free.

As France and Prussia plunge toward war, one family is caught in a web of deceit, political intrigue, and murder that threatens to tear them apart.

If you would like to read the first chapter of Dark In The City Of Light, go HERE.

      My Thoughts-

I recently studied about the Franco-Prussian war in history last semester and I feel that the novel was an accurate depiction of the life and times during that time period. I was not fond of the layout of the book. The book was interesting but the way it was divided into little chapters confused me at times. The scenery and characters were always changing and it took me a while to get all the characters straight. The description of the scenery, clothing and the people were vivid and accurate. Once I was able to figure out the characters, the story was great.

GIVEAWAY AND REVIEW OF THERE'S ALWAYS A WAY BY TONY LITTLE

AND THE WINNER IS DR. BILL SMITH.

There's Always a Way: How to Develop a Positive Mindset and Succeed in Business and LifeIn the book There's Always a Way: How to Develop a Positive Mindset and Succeed in Business and Life,  Tony tells us about his life story. We always see Tony with his Ponytail and shouting "You can do it" but his life has not always been easy. He had run-ins with the law and his mother sent him away to live with his uncle. While he was there he became a successful body builder. His whole life changed when he had a car accident. He had numerous surgeries and his body building dream was put on hold. He was in the worst shape and he gained over 50 lbs. He had to change his life. He is living proof that you can always achieve what you want in life.

      In his book he explains:

      1. Tony explains how to use fears and insecurities to sharpen one's selling game and build self-confidence.
      2. Tony demonstrates dynamite secrets for self-motivation, overcoming negativity, and thinking out of the box.
      3. Tony explains how to build a positive mind set, create a buzz, exploit humor, find a niche, set goals, ask the right questions, close the sale, make the customer into a star, achieve peak selling performance, and turn oneself into a lean, mean selling machine.
      4. Having grown his business in a tough market, Tony explains how to stand out in these down times.
      My Thoughts-

When I started to read the book, I thought that this was just another book by a celebrity. Boy was I wrong. I had seen him on TV and he always had such energy. In reading the book I found out things about him I did not know. The book was well written and I enjoyed the photos. There was a wealth of information that can help you succeed and the information was presented in an upbeat way. That is what I would have expected from Tony. I recommend this book to everyone to help you make a positive change in your life.

REVIEW OF MASTER YOUR DEBT BY J.GOODMAN AND B. WESTROM

With all the financial problems that America and the consumers are faced with daily, many cannot get ahead. In the book, Master Your Debt: Slash Your Monthly Payments and Become Debt Free the authors discuss a variety of topics that include:

      •  Win the mortgage game: avoid foreclosure, obtain the best refinance, and modify your mortgage even if it is "under water"
      • Clean up your credit report and dramatically boost your credit score.
      •  Negotiate new terms and payments for burdensome medical bills, student loans, and credit. card.Protect yourself from the devastation of identity theft.
      • Master the new credit card rules, and avoid the rate and fee traps.
      • Learn a revolutionary strategy that will help you become mortgage free in 5 to 7 years, change the way you pay all your bills, and save hundreds of thousands of dollars.
      • Pay for college without going broke.

The book contains websites, numbers, government programs and other information that a consumer can used to help them out of debt.

      About the Authors-
JORDAN E. GOODMAN is a nationally recognized expert on personal finance. He is the author of the bestselling Everyone's Money Book and twelve other books. For eighteen years, he was the Wall Street correspondent for Money Magazine and also served as a regular commentator for NBC News at Sunrise and Mutual Broadcasting System's America in the Morning. Today, Goodman appears regularly on many radio shows, including public radio's Marketplace as well as on TV programs on Fox, CNN, CBS, CNBC, and MSNBC. He also speaks regularly to large groups such as the Harv Eker wealth seminars. Visit Goodman's Web site: http://www.moneyanswers.com/.

BILL WESTROM is a consumer advocate and veteran mortgage professional who has become a critic of the traditional banking system. His own businesses, IFS Development Group and TruthInEquity.com, focus on educating and empowering homeowners so they can make smarter choices about mortgages and employ an innovative mortgage reduction strategy; equity acceleration. Westrom's mission is to "change the financial landscape of this country by helping homeowners get more out of what they own and what they earn."

      My Thoughts-

With two children going to college in two years, the book was just what I needed. Although I read the whole book, I zoomed in on the chapter “An Education in College Costs". I was unaware of all the different programs that were offered. There are many forms to fill out and if filled out incorrectly you could get less money for college. There are examples given throughout the book and they are very easy to understand. If you are in financial difficulties from credit cards or bankruptcy the book will guide you in the right direction. I liked all the resources that are listed in the Appendix and most of them are discussed in the book.
