In Fever Dream by L. Child and D. Preston, FBI agent Aloysius Pendergast is back. For 12 years he has always though that the death of his wife Helen, killed by a lion in Africa, was an accident but when he examines the gun that she was carrying, he discovers that it was loaded with blanks. He convinces his friend, Lt. Vincent D'Agosta, to come with him to Africa to find out the truth. He also finds himself in the Louisiana Bayou where he is faced with violence and a host of creepy characters. As he investigates her death, he asks himself who was the woman he married and who would want her dead?
I was introduced to Pendergast in the book Cemetery Dance and when I had the opportunity to review the sequel, I was intrigued. I enjoyed the audiobook and there were twists and turns that made it exciting. There was a lot of suspense especially in the African setting and the ending allows for a sequel in the future. The Narrator R. Auberjonois was fantastic and I was able to distinguish who was talking very easily. I look forward to the next installment of the Pendergast saga.
