REVIEW OF DEEP CHILL BY LI WESTERLUND

Deep Chill by Li Westerlund was originally published in Sweden in 2003 as Djup Kyla. Anna Edelhielm is a Narcotics Prosecutor in Sweden. When her boyfriend, Peter, is murdered, she decides to visit her sister, Marie, who lives in Sri Lanka. She has always wanted to visit the Island since her sister got married and settled there. While she is there she meets Kevin an American who is there on business negotiating government contracts. Anna has many adventures that she takes place in. There is espionage, drug smuggling and deception. Anna is plagued by nightmares of an accident that almost blinds her. Who is behind it all?

About the Author-
Born in Sweden, Li Westerlund holds European equivalents of the Ph.D., master’s, and J.D. in law, and the B.S. equivalent in electrical engineering; appointed professor of law in 2000. She is now the Vice President of Global IP for a biopharmaceutical company stationed in Washington, D.C. She has published six books dealing with patent and other law and dozens of articles in professional journals and anthologies, but Deep Chill is her first novel

My Thoughts-

The beginning of the book was slow paced and there were parts that I was unsure of what character was speaking at the time. The insertion of the news media coverage distracted me. I continued to read on and then the action picked up. The author described the culture and Sri Lanka in detail. I was shocked when I found out who the villain was and I never expected it to be…… I suggest you read the book because I do not want to give it away. If you like books about espionage and deceit, this is the book for you.
